AGE APPROPRIATE

ARE YOUR APPS AGE APPROPRIATE??

It’s very important all educators check age appropriateness prior to using applications with students. Did you know Adobe Spark is rated for age 13 and up? How about BrainPop and BrainPop Jr.? Did you know you need parent consent to use these with children under the age 13? Do you use ClassDojo? Do you have parent consent for students under 13? You need it! Do you like Flocabulary? Under the age of 13 must have parent consent. Khan Academy is great, but children under the age of 13 need consent. Who loves Plickers? 13 and under need consent! If you use Remind or See Saw with students under the age of 13 you also need consent.

CLICK HERE for a list of vetted applications shared by Arlington ISD under the CONSENT category.

ATTENTION NISD TEACHERS: Use this list provided by Arlington ISD. Feel free to create one permission slip with several applications you know you'll be using this year. Then as the year goes and you learn of new sites and apps that you/your students will be using, send home another permission slip.

The best way to manage consent is to carefully read the use agreement for each application and if needed, have parents sign consent to meet these requirements.
