Nederland ISD defines gifted and talented as any child or youth in grades K-12 who performs at, or shows the potential for performing at, a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment, and who:
(1) Exhibits high performance capability in general intellectual ability; or
(2) Excels in one or more specific academic fields: math, science, language arts, and/or social studies.
GT Referral Plan
The Gifted and Talented Referral Window is open from November 4th through November 22nd. Any student 1st grade through 11th grade who is enrolled in Nederland ISD may be referred. Students may be referred by anyone; this includes teachers, parents, grandparents, community members, etc. Identified gifted and talented students do not need to be referred again. If you would like to refer a student for gifted education services, please fill out the G/T referral form below.

Goals for GT Services
Students who participate in services designed for gifted students will demonstrate skills in self- directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment and that reflect individuality and creativity. High school graduates who have participated in services for gifted students will produce products and performances of professional quality as part of their program services.
